FIREARMS INSTRUCTOR
This is a 4 day 40 hour instructor level course and requires you to currently hold a Basic Instructor Certification. Day one will begin with a mandated qualification course as outlined by the TCOLE Firearms Instructor Certification requirements. The qualification consist of two courses of fire (pistol, shotgun). There is a 90% or better requirement to remain in the class. Failure to achieve a 90% or better will result in dismissal from the course. Evaluations on safe weapon handling, course of fire development, range development, management and safety. Additional requirements include conducting a live-fire standard course of fire meeting TCOLE qualification standards. A written final examination with a minimum passing score of 90%.
REQUIREMENTS
TCOLE Basic Instructor Certification and Documentation Required. Agency letterhead stating employment or designation as a firearms instructor and approval to attend. Firearms Instructor Certification application must be made to the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement and there will be a fee charged for the certificate.
