RED DOT PISTOL INSTRUCTOR
With the popularity of red dot systems on pistols, we have developed a 40 hour Instructor course for officers to teach their departments the proper concepts for utilizing an RDS on duty pistols. Instructors will develop a greater understanding of shooting fundamentals and how they apply with and RDS as well as instructor development on how to increase the knowledge and confidence in their officers shooting skills.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
- Understand how a pistol red dot system is practical to pistol shooting
- Understand how to determine the proper distances for zeroing a pistol RDS
- Be able to properly zero a pistol RDS
- Review and understand the common pistol shooting fundamentals
- Understand how fundamentals are applied to shooting a pistol with RDS
- Understand the difference between on focal plane versus three focal planes
- Understand target focus
- Understand how to properly acquire reticle while staying target focus
- Be able to apply target focus method to shoot accurately while utilizing a pistol RDS
- Understand the definition of alignment parallax
- Understand the definition of focus parallax
- Understand reticle tracking
- How to overcome common issues with shooting pistols equipped with RDS
- How to efficiently draw pistol with RDS from duty holster
- How to effectively shoot from dominate hand only and support hand only
- Understand Optic malfunctions / handgun malfunctions
- How to correct common shooting issues
